The Most Important Trait When Preparing for Selection
The most important trait for selection success is self-efficacy.
Most people are unaware of this term, but once I explain it, you will understand how it can make or break your results.
So, what is self-efficacy?
Self-efficacy is your belief in your own ability to achieve your goals.
Someone with high self-efficacy looks at an athlete hitting a 405lb deadlift and 6-minute mile and thinks, “If I change my training and nutrition, and stay consistent for the next 9 months, I can do that!“
Someone with low self-efficacy sees the same feats and thinks, “That’s impossible for me.”
The key difference between high and low self-efficacy is how you see yourself.

But why does it matter?
Because if you don’t believe in yourself, you’ll never even start.
Or, if you begin but lose belief at the first sign of adversity, you’ll quit.
Only those with the highest self-efficacy push through the toughest physical challenges and extreme fatigue to get selected.
So, how can you boost your self-efficacy and go from low to high?
It’s simple but not easy –
You need to start start small.
Build momentum with quick wins. If you keep stacking successes, your confidence will grow. Choose achievable goals and crush them one by one.
Over time, those small wins will turn into habits and lifestyle changes and ultimately change your self-perception and self-efficacy.
