The Most Important Workout of Your Life
No single workout matters.
Not the 5-mile run you crushed last week.
Not the squat PRs you hit two days ago.
Not the 800m sprints you’re about to start.
All of that is 100% true.
But if you believe that, it’s easy to slack off:
It’s easy to slow down, skip reps, or cut corners because, “It’s just one workout. It doesn’t matter.”
But here’s the paradox:
While no single workout is the make-or-break factor in selection success, every workout is the most important one.
Why? Because the sum of all your effort is what drives progress.
You don’t succeed at selection by nailing one workout and half-assing the rest. You succeed by getting better-physically and mentally-every week.
And that only happens when you train your mind and body to give your best, day after day, workout after workout.
So, while it’s true that looking back after selection that no single rep, workout, or run will have been a determining factor in your success, you have to train like each workout does.
Your current workout is always the most important one.
Fight for that last rep. Push through the final interval.
There are no redos.
Make every session count.
